Homebuyer Prep keeps household information on the device unless the user chooses to export it.

Overview

Homebuyer Prep is a local-first homebuyer planning and housing counseling intake app. The app is designed to help a user organize household finances, understand the cost of homeownership, and prepare export files for a housing counseling agency or workflow that can import the MISMO-aligned export.

Information stored in the app

The app may store the following information locally on the user's device:

• Household name, planning notes, and homebuying goals
• Target purchase price, down payment, loan assumptions, and ownership-cost estimates
• Household member details such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, language, and birth dates
• Residences, employment, income, assets, liabilities, budget items, and action-plan items
• Buyer-facing intake answers mapped behind the scenes to MISMO-aligned fields
• Optional exports the user prepares from within the app

How the information is used

The app uses information stored on the device to:

• Show planning metrics, affordability summaries, charts, and what-if scenarios
• Prefill buyer-friendly questions where the same information has already been entered
• Generate XML, JSON, PDF, and optional encrypted export files when the user asks for them

When information leaves the device

Household information remains local unless the user chooses to create and share an export. Exports are user initiated and shared through Apple's system share sheet.

The app does not automatically send household information to:

• HUD
• Housing counseling agencies
• Lenders
• Credit bureaus
• Analytics or advertising providers

Optional network activity

The app may make limited network requests in these cases:

• When the user opens official HUD, CFPB, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, VA, or USDA resources
• When the user loads the HUD-approved counseling agency directory for a selected state
• When the user opens external websites through system links

The in-app help assistant is restricted to explaining app usage. If Apple Intelligence features are available on the device and enabled by the user, those features may be used to answer app-navigation questions according to Apple's platform policies and availability.

Backups

The app's local data may be included in standard device backups, including iCloud Backup or computer backups, depending on the user's device settings.

Encryption

The app uses Apple platform security and cryptography frameworks to protect local data and to create optional encrypted exports. It does not use proprietary encryption algorithms or third-party cryptography libraries.

Deleting data

The user can delete the local household record from the Exports & Privacy tab. Deleting local data does not automatically remove copies that may already exist in device backups or files the user has previously shared.
