Watchism Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Watchism handles information when you use the app. Watchism is designed as a privacy-first iPhone app. The app does not require an account, does not include advertising SDKs, and does not use analytics or hidden telemetry.
If you publish this app under your own name or entity, replace the publisher and contact placeholders in this document before making it public.
1. Publisher
Watchism is published by Aldo Gonzalez - Total Tech Consulting, Inc..
2. What Watchism Stores
Watchism stores watch-related information locally on your device so the app can function. Depending on how you use the app, this may include:
- watch names, brands, model information, notes, and collection status
- wear logs, timing observations, rate history, and related measurement details
- watch photographs and thumbnails saved into the app, or references to photos you choose to link from Apple Photos
- wishlist information, acquisition priority, saved brand favorites, boutique notes, and directory preferences
- saved world-time zones, dashboard layout preferences, and other app settings
3. Permissions and Optional Data Access
Watchism only accesses protected device data when you explicitly choose a feature that needs it.
- Camera: used only if you choose to take a watch photo in the app.
- Photos: used only if you choose to import or link a photo from your photo library.
- Contacts: used only if you choose to link a boutique advisor from your contacts.
- Location: used only if you activate astronomy location so Watchism can calculate sunrise, sunset, twilight, moon, and related context.
4. How Watchism Uses Information
Information accessed or stored by Watchism is used only to provide app features you request, such as:
- organizing and displaying your watch collection and wishlist
- attaching and cropping watch photos
- recording wear logs and timing observations
- calculating watch-related summaries, rate views, and wear rotation views
- storing your preferred app layout, time zones, and source settings
- calculating astronomy context when location is enabled
5. Network Activity
Watchism does not send your collection data to a Watchism server because Watchism does not operate a cloud account system for user collection storage.
Network access in Watchism is limited to the following categories:
- Reference time synchronization: the app can contact configured time-reference endpoints such as NTP, HTTPS Date, and Roughtime. You can choose which source is primary, and Watchism then consults the remaining enabled sources in the displayed fallback order.
- User-initiated browsing: if you open a watch website or brand page from the in-app directory, the embedded browser loads that page at your request.
- User-initiated image import: if you choose to import a selected browser image, Watchism downloads that image so it can be attached locally to a watch or wishlist entry.
Watchism does not use analytics, advertising, fingerprinting, or hidden reporting.
6. Data Sharing
Watchism does not sell your personal information and does not share your watch collection data with third-party advertisers or analytics providers.
Some information may be processed by Apple system frameworks or by websites you explicitly choose to visit from the in-app browser. For example:
- Apple Photos and Camera frameworks process images you choose to capture, import, or link.
- Apple Contacts processes the contact you choose to link.
- Apple Location Services provides location data if you enable astronomy location.
- External websites you open in the in-app browser receive your connection in the same way they would if you visited them in a normal web browser.
7. On-Device Storage and Retention
Watchism is designed to keep your watch data on your device. Collection data, app-managed images, measurements, notes, and settings remain on-device unless you explicitly export them or interact with an external website.
If you link a photo from Apple Photos instead of importing it into Watchism, the original image remains in your photo library and Watchism stores only the information needed to refer to that selected asset.
Data stays available until you delete it in the app, remove the app, or erase the device.
8. Your Choices
You can choose whether to grant Camera, Photos, Contacts, or Location access. You can also choose the primary reference source, enable or disable HTTPS Date and Roughtime as additional sources inside the app, and stop using in-app browsing features at any time.
9. Children’s Privacy
Watchism is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account system or remote profile.
10. Changes to This Policy
If this Privacy Policy changes, the updated version will be posted at the public privacy-policy URL associated with Watchism.
